«Cats» in Basel or at least scenes from it and highlights from 100 years of musical theatre history were presented by the best known professional ensemble, the «New York Broadway Musical Company». Electrifying melodies, hits and evergreens as well as sensational dance scenes had the audience dancing in their seats. The spectacle included delicacies from well-known successful musicals such as «Cabaret», «West Side Story», «Hair», «A Chorus Line», «Evita» etc. In addition, lesser-known musicals such as «Ain’t Misbehavin» (music by the jazz great Fats Waller) were presented. The performing artist group from New York consisted of a ballet, a choir and an 8-piece live band.
