Blues fans fly to New York or Chicago in order to experience the real atmosphere of a live concert in a smoky club. In 1992, we offered the same experience in «Basel downtown», more precisely in the legendary club Atlantis («-tis») on the Kohlenberg in Basel. The performing artists of the evening were called «Big Jay McNeely» and «Carey Bell». McNeely was one of the hottest saxophonists in the blues scene. Nobody played the instrument as bluesy and yet so fast. Harmonica player Carey Bell had already played with Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker, a mark of quality and a guarantee for an evening with chills going down your spine.
