Stephan Eicher hails from the Bernese new wave scene, while Imany, who was born in Martigues, began her career in France before moving to New York. One created his very own musical language from a blend of electronic music, chanson, guitar sounds, cowbells and a touch of world-weariness; the other put her fascinating voice at the service of soul, blues, pop and even chamber music experiments. The «Soirée sans frontières» takes the audience from Münchenbuchsee (a suburb of Bern) via Paris, Martigues and the Comoros to New York. Not so much a strictly organised atlas, but more an encounter between two extraordinary life stories that have left their mark. Stephan Eicher and Imany draw on their roots, play with them, transform them and send them back out to the audience in the form of music. The result is an evening without boundaries: personal, surprising and deeply moving.
