Amistat

Did you know Jan and Josef are twin brothers but, as they like to say: «We are twins but don’t look like it.»

Their unique bond also plays a huge part in Amistat’s harmonies and sound.

Amistat’s musical journey began on the streets of Melbourne in 2012, when Jan and Josef started busking in front of a surf shop. What began as simple street performances soon became the starting point of their life as musicians and eventually led the twins to pursue music together full-time.

Before Amistat became his life, Jan had a very different career in mind: he was training to become a golf professional.

But when his twin brother Josef called and asked him to join him in Australia, Jan made a leap of faith — putting his original plans on hold for music.

Fun Fact: While searching for a band name, Jan and Josef heard The Fray’s «You Found Me», which opens with the line: «I found God on the corner of First and Amistad.»

They looked up the word and discovered that its Catalan form, amistat, means «friendship.» It felt like the perfect name for two brothers making music together.

Picture This

Did you know Picture This started with an iPhone. In 2015, Ryan Hennessy recorded «Take My Hand» on his phone and uploaded it online. Jimmy Rainsford came across the video and reached out to him. This is how the band was born.

Ryan wasn’t always planning a life in music. Until around the age of 18, his biggest passion was football, and he even dreamed of becoming a professional player.

THEIR MUSIC IS MEANT TO BE SEEN

When Picture This write songs, they want to create entire visual worlds. Their goal is for listeners to feel as though they’re watching a film — with scenes they can see, feel and almost even smell.

Fun Fact: Their «Traffic Jams» became a signature in the band’s early days: videos of the four musicians squeezed into a car, playing music together.

That love of making music in a car later took on a whole new meaning. The story behind «Parked Car Conversations» began on a road trip through Europe. The four drove from London almost all the way to Rome — and spent their first night on the floor of a yoga studio in Switzerland, without Wi-Fi or phone signal.
