Toby Keith and Steve Earle sing about the same America, but their views could not be any more different. Steve Earle and his wife Allison Moorer are questioners who reject the typical American way of life. They also challenge country music with blues and Irish folk. In total contrast, Toby Keith is an affirmed redneck, the hard-working man in cowboy boots and a loyal disciple of the current Nashville school. Regardless, both of them consider themselves to be dedicated patriots. Steve Earle defends his patriotism while Toby Keith champions his and the real America is somewhere in the middle.
