Compañía Maria Serrano

Thu, 09. Nov 2006, 8 PM | JAZZ GOES FLAMENCO

Festsaal Messe Basel

Salsa, tango or flamenco: all forms of Latin music are grist to Al Di Meola's mill. From his early days with Chick Corea's legendary «Return to Forever» fusion band, to his first solo album «Elegant Gypsy» (1976) and his encounters with Astor Piazzolla and Paco de Lucia, this brilliant guitarist has explored the roots and branches of jazz all over the world. Bringing him together with Maria Serrano's fiery flamenco troupe seems almost the logical next step, since she too has combined the traditional dance of Andalusia with its equally passionate cousin the Argentinean tango in her current show «FlamenTango».
