Vocal Sampling

With Ibrahim Ferrer and the A-capella-group «Vocal Sampling» the festival brought two different and yet related facets of the great afro-Cuban music tradition to be noticed – from the rythmic Son to the melting Bolero. Ibrahim Ferrer had risen to become the most successful and musically versatile representative of the famous veteran Cuban generation of the «Buena Vista Social Club». By contrast, the six singers of «Vocal Sampling» represent the new generation, but they too are connected by a love of the past and a joy of experimentation.
