Tribute to Scott Joplin: The London Ragtime Orchestra

Mon, 23. Oct 1989, 8 PM | TRIBUTE TO SCOTT JOPLIN / SALUTE TO GLEN MILLER

Festsaal, Mustermesse Basel

This was a nostalgic evening.  The London Ragtime Orchestra played ragtime compositions by Scott Joplin and Jelly Roll Morton. It was the music that led to the birth of jazz at the turn of the century.

Named the only legitimate successor orchestra by the Glen Miller Society, The Glenn Miller Orchestra gave the Swing Era rebirth. Zeke Zarchy played the lead trumpet, just like he had under Glenn Miller himself.
