Luther Allison Band

Fri, 04. Nov 1988, 7.30 PM | DIE GESCHICHTE DES BLUES; GOSPEL - BOOGIE - CHICAGO BLUES

Festsaal, Mustermesse Basel

The best-kept secret at the 3rd Rheinknie Jazz Session was Al Copley. His repertoire went from boogie to blues to jazz. People like Bruce Springsteen, Carlos Santana or B.B. King all agreed: «He plays the hottest piano anywhere». Maxime Howard had often been compared to Tina Turner, although she had never managed to reach her level of notoriety. Her wonderful mix of blues and gospel made the comparison completely legitimate. The international press celebrated Luther Allison as the most modern proponent of Chicago Blues. His electrifying mix of vocals and guitar, reminiscent of B.B. King, is completely unique. Joining him in Basel were also Frank Rabasté (guitar), Zox (bass), Vincent Daune (drums), Michel Carras (keyboards).
