This evening showcases the diversity of indie rock. For a decade the Kaiser Chiefs from Leeds have epitomised edgy indie rock, with its elements of 1980s New Wave and opulent refrains in the Britpop tradition. «Stay Together», the band's new sixth album, is scheduled for release a few weeks before their appearance in Basel. By contrast «Boy», the duo consisting of Valeska Steiner from Zurich and Sonja Glass from Hamburg, delivers a gentle, whimsical alternative form of pop. A programme of contrasts, yet what both bands have in common is their flair for great melody.
